GROUP THERAPY

The West Niagara Psychology Centre offers groups for children, adolescents, and adults for concerns related to anxiety and stress, depression, social skills, anger, attachment, and emotion regulation. Depending on the presenting concern, groups are run based on different perspectives and theories of treatment including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Attachment, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy models. Please contact this office for information regarding costs, future groups, and your interest in attending.

 

MASTER YOUR STRESS 

METHODS TO REDUCE STRESS THROUGH MULTIPLE MODALITIES

WHAT:  This group will teach you how to use mindfulness and cognitive therapeutic approaches as self-care practices for stress management. Participation in the group will enhance attention, increase empathy, promote a non-judgemental attitude and enhance your ability to respond to worry and stressful situations.

FACILITATORS: Dr. Tiffany Hunt (Clinical Psychologist) and Ms. Tessa Alexander (Clinician)

WHO: Adults 18+

WHEN: Monday October 28th, 2019 for 8 weeks from 7:00-8:30pm. Please see schedule below:

Week 2:     Changing the Way We Think (Monday November 4th, 2019)

Week 3:     Tolerating Distress (Monday November 11th, 2019)

Week 4:     Communicating Under Stress (Monday November 18th, 2019)

Week 5:     Body-Mind Connection (Monday November 25th, 2019)

Week 6:      Letting it Be (Monday December 2nd, 2019)

Week 7:      Self-Compassion (Monday December 9th, 2019)

Week 8:      Mindful Living (Monday December 16th, 2019)

Cost is $600 ($50 per hour).
Psychological services are covered under most extended health care plans. We are able to bill some plans directly (Greenshield, Great West Life, Secure Claims, Blue Cross). 
This group requires a minimum of 6 participants in order to run. Participants will be notified if the group is postponed due to lack of enrolment. Deposit is required for participation. Payment plans are available. 

 

CHILDREN'S ANXIETY GROUP 

WORRY WARRIORS! CRAFTY WAYS TO HELP KIDS COPE WITH ANXIETY

WHO: Children between the ages of 8 and 10 years

WHEN: September 17 to October 22, 2019 (Time 5:30 pm to 7:00pm)

( PARENTING SERIES )

TIMES: Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 pm

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Parents and caregivers of children 0-12 yrs, teachers, early childhood educators, & principals

At times all parents feel lost or without a clue about what our child might need from us. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you. The Circle of Security® Parenting™ program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES OF THE TRAINING:

• Understand your child’s emotional world by learning to read the emotional needs

• Support your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions

• Enhance the development of your child's self esteem

• Honor your innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure
